Promoting positive mental health and well-being in Scottish schools and communities

Since 2007, City of Edinburgh Council has been working to promote positive mental health and well-being with pupils, staff and families under the banner Growing Confidence.  Initial consultations with nursery and primary schools in 2007, and then secondary schools in 2013 identified the clear need for:

  • Inspiring training and resources to increase staff confidence
  • Dynamic universal materials to support children and young people in the classroom
  • Courses to up skill and support parents and carers

Our holistic packages include all of these elements.

They are all evidence-based and will enable your school to embed enhanced understanding and promote best practice for supporting children’s mental health and well-being, and resilience.

Over 10,000 pupils, staff and parents and carers in Edinburgh and surrounding local authorities have benefitted from taking part in Growing Confidence to date.  We are always delighted to receive enquiries from people further afield who would like to become involved.

Please take a look what participating schools are saying about the positive impact Growing Confidence has had on their whole school community on our evaluations page.

Whether you are a leader, a member of school or other agency staff, a parent or a carer, do please explore our site and contact us if you require further information.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Growing Confidence family.
